iMockups upcoming features, hold onto your seats!

cat and mac

Hi folks,

Just wanted to remind everyone what we’re working on for future updates. These won’t make the 1st update that we’re working on now (that’s mostly bug fixes) but they are coming VERY SOON:

UPCOMING FEATURES:

  • snap-to grid lines
  • more export options: email, XML, PDF
  • border and background color picker for UI controls
  • improved customization of UI controls
  • more UI controls
  • more icons

Oh and don’t forget to read this post: iMockups: some minor issues, workarounds & upcoming update

Thanks for supporting iMockups for iPad!
-Ken

    Love this application. Yes there are some noticeable bugs, and possibly a usability bug where you can only move your page’s canvas around the screen if you are “double touching” in a pinch mode. I do not know if that was intentional but I kept trying to move the page around with my one index finger, so it wasn’t terribly intuitive to me.

    LOVE the constant feedback you guys are giving on this application. It makes all the difference when it comes to consumer confidence regarding deciding whether or not to plop down a Hamilton on this. I am an incredible scrooge when it comes to buying apps on iPhone/iPad so my purchase should be considered a big compliment whether you realize it or not!

    @Fred

    Thanks for the support Fred! Regarding the two finger panning, it’s unavoidable because a single finger selects UI controls and in order to unselect a UI control, you have to tap elsewhere on the canvas.

    If you happen to have a TON of controls on the canvas you won’t be able to select the canvas to unselect in order to initiate a single finger pan.

    Thus we opted for the TWO FINGER panning similar to how a MacBook trackpad uses two fingers to pan while in a browser.

    We’d certainly look into any alternate methods that may come up. If you have any ideas, we’re definitely listening :)

    Thanks again,
    Ken

    I am interested in your imockups app. Can I import images to the app.
    Thanks.
    Cheers,
    John

    @John Legg

    Hi John,

    We’re considering allowing images to be imported as a backround image to some UI objects via Photo Library. It’s not on the shortlist for immediate implementation yet though.

    I’ll keep updating on upcoming stuff as we knock’em down.

    As for sleep, we’re not animals, 5hrs is good right? ;)

    Thanks for the suggestion,
    Ken

    I am really enjoying iMockups. Even as an early version it is incredibly useful and usable; great job! Looking forward to future versions and new features. :)

    One feature request I have is for the “Reset Zoom” feature to be a toggle between the initial zoom level and full zoom-out (or possibly, the last zoom level I had set for the page). I have found it frustrating to move from page to page, and have to reset my zoom manually on each page to see what I came here looking for. I seldom (if ever) use the default zoom on a page, so for me at least “Reset Zoom” is currently not doing anything for me.

    Also: would be great to be able to use a page as a template for future pages, either “on the fly” (or, equivalently, “Duplicate page”), or allowing you to save a page as a template. Clicking the “Add page” + button would bring a popover with options for “Blank page” and each of my templates. This would save me the tedious steps of zooming way out on a page, multi-selecting the entire page, and then copy/paste to a new page.

    Thanks for listening!

    Really great app. :) will Be cool if the Icon Buttons will Be vectorized and don’t have a blurry border.

    @d’Armond
    Thanks for the feedback, we’re definitely working on Duplicate Page feature and templates later on

    @Martin
    Thanks! We’re working on providing a set of icons with different sizes

    What I’d really like to see is a color-scheme generator within iMockup

    Would like to see more templates, especially Flex GUI controls. I create a lot of flex apps and could do with the controls.

    Love your app. So much I use it to prove the sceptics how cool is iPad.

    But I could be happier if you provided more templates. The way I see it they could be “packages” for which people could pay a small price of 0.99 (I know I would pay).

    All other functions mentioned above would be cool also, plus resizing canvas. ;-)
